DIY How to get bulbs out

i have a 2004 cooper s, went to change my dip beam bulbs but im struggling, pill the connector off and there seems to be like a metal circle clip thing around the bulb that i cant get off, any help?

and as for sidelights do i need to take the whole sidelight out to change them ones?

its the retaining clips i cant get off been at it for agesssssss

Normally you just squeeze together the 2 prongs sticking out on the retaining clip pull it out and the headlight bulb more or less drops out.
I havent got a Gen 1 myself but it will give you full instructions on how to do it in your handy driver hand book which you always have handly to hand.

Gen 2 MINI side light/fog light bulbs are accessed from the rear via a wheel arch blanking plate, I wouldnt have thought it was required to remove the entire light unit just to change a bulb on yours.

But then again it will tell/show you in the handbook, they are really useful.
