United-States Advice for buying used mini S

I am looking into buying an 03-04 MINI S model, with the Getrag 6 speed. I understand the 5 spd boxes are junk. Are there any suggestions out there for things to look out for when purchasing a used MINI? I will be commuting quite some ways to work daily, all hwy. I need for it to be pretty reliable.

All S models have the 6-speed Getrag.
Only the early Cooper/One models have the troublesome 5-speed Midlands gearbox...and from mid 04 they have a 5-speed Getrag.
