Offline | My MINI adventures Come on guys, less of these negative threads. Use this post to tell about YOUR MINI tales. Most of you have had your cars long enough now. Lets here about the time you blew off the local hero in his Porshe on the local B roads or the time (like me yesterday!) you had your first 4 wheel drift round a roundabout (great fun. Very controllable). |

Offline | My MINI adventures There was the time, a few hours after I collected my Cooper, that I was being followed by a police car through town. I was driving wiithin the spirit of running in, and driving to the speed limit - keeping below 3000 revs and below 33 mph in the 30mph limit. The police car was now following me round a corner though some traffic lights. I wasn\'t going to drive through a yellow with the police car following me, so I stopped (abruptly) - MINI stops very well 8D! The police car (a white Escort with steel wheels with the wheel trims removed) simply lost it behind me. They straightened up, the lights turned green and off we went again. The followed me for another half mile then stopped me to ask \"Can you prove this is your car - coz DVLA haven\'t got records yet?\" They also said \"We were sure you were going to go through the lights\". Also during the running in period (now up to 4500 revs) a Calibra decided it was going to drive real close, and started following me. I turn left, he turns left, I turn right, he turns right. I made my way gently to a narrow country road that goes left right left straight right left straight right left right left right. There were a couple of cars coming the other way, and it was important to keep to the correct side if the white centre line. Suffice it to say, I easily lost sight of the Calibra throught the twisties :) |

Offline | My MINI adventures Coincidentally, I had a Nova follow me in traffic today. Two lads in it, kept craning their necks to see inside. When they\'d finished gawping, they pulled onto the wrong side of the road, roared away (much noise from the exhaust, but not much speed) overtaking about 30 yards of queued cars, then turned right nearly hitting two pedestrians. |

Offline | My MINI adventures Hehe, the car certainly gets a lot of attention from the traffic light GP fraternity. That\'s one thing I look forward too with a Cooper \'S\'. \"Nuff respec innit\".. Or somthing like that. :) |

Offline | Going to work this morning and a guy came up alongside me on a two-lane in a new Honda S2something-or-other sports car. He took one look at me, downshifted, and was off. Too much of a challenge!! Neck and neck (not a great speed) into a sharp R/H bend. Took the bend hard and was in front. Forgot about the slick salt-n-damp road surface though!! (Doh!!) There goes MINI in some sideways action! Kept the power feathered, a bit of opposite lock, and MINI straitened up beautifully and I was off, pretending I new what I was doing. The way the car recovered and handled amazed me, and the bloke in the Honda. He pulled alongside, acknowledged me, but he didn't try to get ahead again. MINI takes on sports car...wins...the end!! Love this car!! ![]() |

Offline | what was all . . .? Paul and R1 deserve our sympathy here and Bad Manners seems to be flirting with danger by driving far too carefully. Incidently, R1, just what is it you`re trying to say with regard to the S2something-or-other that you imagined you were "RACING" ? See you later I`ve got to "RACE" down to Lakeside now . . . wish me luck with the Speed Police?Last edited by Jakx : Dec 14th, 2001 at 09:52 AM. |

Offline | Re: Sideways action! I know many have said in this forum that the Mini isn't a "sports car", but in this modern era of "motoring" there must be more broad in meaning than a sleek two seater. Would any one argue w/ an M3 or an M5... or hopefully a Cooper S? ![]() |

Offline | I would argue with an M3 or M5. Most of our roads around here couldn't cope with an M3 or M5. To big and too much power! Freeways only!! A MINI Cooper S ...... now that may be a different story!! ![]() Last edited by R1 : Dec 14th, 2001 at 11:48 AM. |

| Test thread infiltrator | So far I've scalped: - New toyota celica - Mitsubishi FTO, somehow!! Must've been something wrong with his car! - Umpteen Nova's - Saxo VTR - Countless Rep mobiles Seems everyone wants to see what these new MINI's can do... I got mine doing 60 in 8.5 seconds last night, and that was with a passenger. Just about made it without changing into 3rd gear. Dom |

Offline | I suspect our beloved Coopers have a very "healthy" 115hp. I have a good benchmark test for all my cars on a local back road and, even limited to 5000rpm, my new MINI gives similar performance to my MX-5 which is supposed to have about 135hp and weighs 150kg less than the MINI. I can't wait to finish the running-in - only 350 miles left - I expect it will be even quicker when I can go past 6000rpm before a shift. Offline | ASC+T - Love It! AND I should have mentioned also I had a great roundabout experience with the ASC+T system yesterday. Piled on to a medium sized roundabout a bit too quick and 'cos it was empty, I tried piling on the throttle, instead of lifting-off. For a fraction of a second it started to understeer badly, then the ASC+T kicked-in and all understeer was killed instantly and the car just rocketed round and I shot out the exit at great speed - great fun ![]() Cooper Chili - Silk Green & Black, Climate Contol, Heated Jets, ASC+T, Alarm Arrived Nov 30 - Love it to bits |

Offline | Me and MINI went to the "Plumb Pudding" motorcycle and car race meeting at Mallory Park racing circuit today. Bloody cold!! My silver / black MINI was the only MINI in the car park and was still drawing a crowd Thought I might have seen a few from MINI2 today. Where were you ... too cold for ya! Went to see the motorcycle racing really but in the car racing there was one classic Mini racing. Out cornered nearly everything at the hairpin but lost out on the straits. Wait till the new MINI comes out to play next year!! ![]() |
