Offline | Well, looking at the photo, I can tell you that this is really a patrol car too, although I don't expect it to be a trend. The red-blue lights in front of the rear view mirror are not legal in California unless the vehicle is an authorized code-3 equipped law enforcement vehicle. Many "DARE" cars (drug diversion program) fixed up to appeal to kids are also "real" patrol cars. Some drivers don't pull over for them though because they just don't believe they are real. Since most pursuits require control more than speed (it is hard to out run a radio and a helicopter), I think the MINI makes a great pursuit vehicle. And once you cuff the bad guy and put him in the back, just use the remote to lock him in. ![]() Actually, the CHP has used several non-standard cars for pursuit vehicles. They do not transport prisoners as often as city cops, so they will sometimes run cars with little back seat and no "cage". Having said all of that, I think this car is more like a DARE car or show car, since the dealer/sponsor sticker is rather prominent, but as I said, one COULD get pulled over and cited by an officer in the car. ![]() Drive carefully out there! Offline | That has got to be one of the coolest police cars I've seen! I like the lights on the back of the rear view mirror. It looks good as a CHiPs cruiser, but it just looks like this car should be on the German Autobahn... the Polizei design would look damn cool on a MCS with mods. |

Offline | There are lots of neat "low profile" lights for patrol cars. I have seen cars that look completely stock until they light up, and then they REALLY light up. ![]() MC/VR/B/PP&SP/CVT/Xenon |
