| MINI2 Regular | DS MSC Production started! Questions! Hey everybody, i've been checking these forums a few times a week ever since i ordered my Mini. I'm getting excited A month has passed until production started and it should be max 2 more months. Has anybody received their mini in less than 3 months total time? The car i drive now is 98 VW Passat (1.8t tiptronic) and the Mini Cooper S is going to be my first stick shift. My friend just got a new car and she says after its broken in she'll teach me stick shift, anybody got any tips or sites to help me get good at this? I've driven stick before but not enough to get the hang of it and truly get used to anything ![]() Coming from the passat, a FWD car as well, quite frequently I go to the canyons for fun and have gone on 1 rally. It handles VERY well for a family-sized car with the setup i have on it. I have learned a lot about cornering from it. With the MSC i could only imagine even more fun! Does the MSC have any oversteer or more importantly in the fwd car, much understeer? With the passat i have added a rear sway bar giving me some oversteer and allowing the front end to pull through the end of the middle turn. I'm just excited to see what this car can do! :-D I must take it easy though as we dont want to go overboard and ruin the car ![]() -Anto DS/B MINI Cooper S Got It: 2/9/03. It's All Excellent. |

Offline | Welcome, and good luck with your new MINI! I received my MCS in just about 3 months from the time I placed the order to the time it was delivered. Since then, I have heard the wait time has lengthened somewhat. Just be patient. As far as the tranny goes, I love the 6-speed Getrag. Its a little notchy getting into first on a really cold day, but once she warms, its smooth as silk. In the warm weather (like when I took delivery), it couldn't have been smoother. The clutch broke in nicely also. A little grabby when new, but now she's perfect. The handling (at least to me) is very neutral and very predictable. You can really sling this thing, and not get out of shape. The DSC is also a big help. If you enjoyed your Passat, you're gonna love your new MINI. I wish you FUN! 2002 MCS, DS/B/BBS, Sport, Prem, Cloth, 17's 1969 Morris Cooper MK2, Tartan Red/Black, 998cc, Twin HS2's |
