Hey everyone! About a year and a half ago now I bought a Countryman S all4 and I've been kinda kicking myself for getting it in automatic, but I had a good reason, namely money saving since it was a demo model.
But the time has come that I'm looking at moving into something with a manual again, and I'm mainly looking at the cooper, naturally aspirated. I've never owned either a cooper or a cooper S and I'd like some feedback from people that own them. I had a ride in an S and it felt really fast, unnecessary for me, and the S for me is higher in insurance and burns a bit more fuel, so I'm also considering the cooper because it's slightly cheaper for me to run. I'm also a tiny bit worried about the suspension being less comfortable for long drives.
My question is this, is the cooper S really worth my spending more on it just simply to have that turbo power? I'd love to hear feedback from owners
and maybe, people can provide information on what I should look out for when looking pre-owned.
as a little background info, I primarily use my car for long highway trips, so the fuel economy is pretty important, as is the ride comfort. There's also a difference in insurance cost for me, which is around $400 a year, and that's Canadian dollars, so harder to swallow, but not impossible if I have good reason to go S. Good reasons would be things like reliability, resale value, aftermarket parts and things, community support, etc.
