Can be changed for free under warranty. Just got the girlfriends done for her 58 plate cooper at a mini dealer. They don't like to tell you that tho.

One strange thing with all those anodised aluminium rings is that they are broken and not unibody shaped. The original plastic one that is already given with the new mini is all one piece, isnt that strange?

Is it really worth going toe to toe with the dealer for a 17 item ? It's been going on for 2 weeks already. If it had been ordered 2 weeks ago, we would be commenting on how nice it looks by now

From my point of view, due to the fact that i have spent so much money for oil on my mini, im not gonna be giving them not one more penny for issues that its BMWs responsibility to fix! Not one more penny!

FYI,
This ring issue had forced a change to the material used in the part. Not sure from when they started but new keys provided now have the ring made of metal.

If you can get it done under warranty, great! But I would do the ebay job as an earlier poster mentioned, they look quite cool IMO.

Surely, you can't expect me to do all the work.

Every MINI owner should learn how to use RealOEM for finding part numbers.

I'm afraid I've failed in that dept. Please enlighten me on how to find part numbers on RealOEM without actually knowing them?
I would be forever grateful as a MINI owner if you could unlock the mystery for me.

You first use the last 7 of VIN to locate the parts which are for your car. You then look at the appropriate Parts Diagram or do a keyword search for the part.
