mini cooper s cold start problem

I have a problem with my 2007 mini cooper s. on a cold start it has trouble starting, and sometimes when driving it shortly after I put my foot down and it kinda lags slowly then like misfires and then the power comes in

Symptom when I first start the car is that it starts tries to hold cold idle revs and fails then stalls. can do it 4-6 times then will eventually idle but lumpily or with a hint of a misfire.

I believe this may be a common thing, but I am new to mini and this forum, any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nikki

May not be the correct diagnosis but it sounds very familiar

Check out the high pressure fuel pump fault. Its common, I have had it on 2 of my previous S models my current JCW.

Ho much does it cost roughly if it is the HPFP?

Thanks

Hi, the most costly thing was the part, I negotiated £220 from the main dealer for my JCW but I am confident you can get it cheaper if you shop around.
I have always been the type to go to my dealer for anything though and don't mind paying the premium as I have a long history with them and I don't trust any other garage through experience.

My first and second were done under warranty, third one, parts and labour, £340 I think from memory, and it was done last summer.

Let us know how you get on

Hi ya

If it is you high pressure fuel pump you should be able to get a good will clam from mini I think they exstended the dead line for the warantee on hpfp.

Have a look at this link http://www.mini2.com/forum/maintenan...fuel-pump.html

Get the car pugged in see what coders are stored you may find its a simple thing like a water temp switch

Thanks for the help guys, this may sound silly, but how do you get a good will from mini? I bought the car privately, will this affect anything or should I be able to because its Mini and a known fault. How do you go about getting a good will?

Thanks
