Fuel cap lock on mini cooper s

I wonder if anyone can help, have just purchased a mini cooper s,but noticed the chrome fuel cap does not lock when car locked, looks like a little solenoid in there,is this a common thing is it easy to replace.

Thanks for any help or advice.

They are quite easy to replace the easiest way is to remove the back light you can also see what your doing a lot better. It might be worth taking it off & having a look at it first as its just a little electric motor connected to a thin metal rod & plastic plunger, something might be disconnected/stuck somewhere. To get to the plunger which pushes through the fuel cap you have to put your arm through the back light right through the rear wing to reach it which is a bit fiddly. If you open your fuel flap you can see the little plunger, try locking the car with the flap open to see if it moves
