piece of mind

hi im looking at a mini cooper s tomo but have been told that they wreck superchargers and are unreliable , is this true and what should I listen for cheers j

Although it gets less MPG, the supercharged 1st Gen MCS engine is more reliable than the turbocharged engine in the 2nd Gen MCS.

The average life of a supercharger is around 120,000 miles, as with all things due to various factors some will need replacement sooner and some will last a lot longer. The M45 supercharger fitted to the R53 Cooper S is manufactured by Eaton and was fitted to many other makes of car without problems:

The later Turbo Cooper S was introduced to lower emissions and improve fuel economy
