Cooper S Hardtop or S Convertible?

So, my mind is decided. I am getting a 2006 Cooper S with a 6-speed manual for my next car. The only thing I can't decide on is what I want top wise. I really like the idea of getting a convertible but will it be as much fun? I am really into "spirited" driving and the whole feel of the car. My only worry is is the convertible as much fun as the hardtop? We all now that when the top is chopped off of a car they have to make it stronger with support beams, etc. and that adds weight. I would get a hardtop because I feel that it would be a little faster and be more rigid. Is there a noticeable difference between the way a hardtop drives from a convertible? I've driven 2 2006 Cooper S's, 2 R56 Coopers, 1 R56 Cooper S, and a R56 Clubman S and the R53 Cooper S's were my favorite so that's why I want a 2006 Cooper S Please let me know what you think about the difference between the hardtop v. convertible!!

I would say that what it lacked in performance it more than makes up for in the fun of driving with the roof down.

Only driven a R52 MCS and it handles well, a few rattles as you'd expect with a soft top. When driving with the roof up you forget its a convertible.

The 1st Gen MCS Convertible was built through July 2008 allowing you to consider 2005 - 2008 models.
