Road Noise

I have a R53 Cooper S JCW that i recently bought. Knowing the car and the characteristics i have mistaken the road noise thinking it was normal...

In a straight line the road noise is very loud, however when i go road a left hand bend the noise stops, I'm not going at high speed this is anything from 30mph. this doesn't seem to happen on a right bend.

Is there an underlying problem, bearing, bush, steering etc...?

any advice is welcomed....

Sounds most likely like a wheel bearing. Jack each wheel up & spin it by hand & you will most likely be able to hear which one it is & maybe able to feel play in it

Good Point....

Will get it jacked up in the morning and have a feel. I presume they should spin pretty freely and quiet?

I would agree, most likely a noisy wheel bearing.......sometimes they drone/whirr in a straight line but the noise stops when bearing load is increased or reduced during cornering on one side or the other.
