Question How many MINIs have been sold in your country?

I have been doing some research to see how well the MINI is selling in Mexico and to my surprise, information was extremely scarce.

Finally, I managed to get a hold on real figures filed with the local Car Sales Association. It turns out that MINI sold 970 cars in Mexico from April 2002 through September 2002. Expectations for the end of 2002 were of 1,200 cars sold.

The information I got does not say how many of those sold account for Mini Cooper and how many for Mini Cooper S (Mini One not sold in Mexico).

According to BMW's press release of December 23rd 2002, Mini sold 105,000 cars worldwide from January through September 2002 (5,000 more cars than expected).

!!Leading sales countries (Jan-Sep 02):
UK: 26,000
GERMANY: 17,250
USA: 15,800

Do you have numbers for your countries???

Cheers!!

According to BMW Australia, they've sold about 1100 MINIs, of which 450 are the S model, the rest Coopers.

The sales person when buying my car said that Canada was alotted around 2000 coopers for 2002 and 700 Cooper "S" I am sure that figure has gone up.

I wonder how Japan is doing? Considering how fond the Japanese market became of the original Mini and that thousands of cars were sold there, I would hope the MINI to be a success there as well...

Cheers!!!

i think MINI has a tough time in Japan, considering the number of K-cars available over there... competition is pretty high there. My last trip to Japan in Osaka found only a handful of mini's on the street.

the idea of a modern-retro compact car is not new to them. the nissan Figaro or PAO was quite interesting and they had those out about 10 years ago.

Hmm, not up actually if they expected to sell 2700. See http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/030108-2.htm

"BMW Group's Mini Canada division sold 2,102 Cooper and Cooper S vehicles in its first nine months of sales."

My dealer still has a bunch of 2002s on the lot and a good number of 2003s as well.
