| MINI2 Master | Both models use a nearly identical chasis, the M-03 for the Mini and the M-03L for the MINI. The info on the Mini's is all up, there isn't much info on the MINI yet. New MINI http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc/...sis/58295.html Mini Cooper http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58149.pdf http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58149e.pdf Mini Cooper Racing http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58211.pdf http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58211e.pdf Mini Cooper Monte Carlo http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58163.pdf http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/58163e.pdf The MINI Cooper is a long wheelbase version of this chassis. Since it's identical, but longer and slightly heavier, it exhibits similar tendancies as the Mini model, but with a slightly larger turning circle, and a slightly slower acceleration. The differences are negligable, and only evident by pitting them one-on-one. As soon as there is a Polycarbonate MCS body for this car (shouldn't be difficult) I'll buy one. ![]() P.S. | World Traveler | The information I have is its avalable in 2 wheelbases, 190mm & 200mm. The M-03L is about 234mm, so possibly not. However taking out the chassis extension gives you a M-03, which is about 200mm (from Tamiyas info). I dont have one, so no garentees about fitment (I'm getting a Cooper, so sticking to the standard body). Since the MCS is an aftermarket body, it should fit any RC with the appropriate wheelbase (these things tend to be pretty standardised), including non-tamiya gas cars, all are 4WD or RWD though. A knolegeable hobby shop should be able to suggest a sutible chasis to fit. Jeep-2-Mini |

| MINI2 Master | The 190mm (narrow) and 200mm (wide) references the body width. Tamiya's New MINI kit is a Radio Controlled 1/10th scale, front wheel drive car, with a MINI Cooper polycarbonate (flexible) body. The chasis, the M-03L is a long wheel base version of the M-03 chassis used in their various models of Classic Mini's. Fitting, eh? Since it's FWD, this means they just made a new, longer rear wheel part. They're even interchangeable... If you had a Classic Mini kit from Tamiya, you could buy the longer frame peice, and a new bodyshell. This kit is pretty cool, I've heard, mostly because as a FWD car, it's very different then a lot of the other stuff out there. So, the M-03L chassis is 168mm wide. So the Pro-Line 190mm 1/10th scale MINI Cooper S will fit it, with the wheels inset just under 1¼ mm from the wheel arches. The wheelbase will be fine, since this is a 1/10th scale body of a car, fitting on a chassis designed for that car. Maybe someone clever could come up with wheel spacers, or find a rim with the proper offset to look perfect. The Pro-Line body will also fit most standard 2WD or 4WD 1/10 scale R/C cars in gas or electric, from a variety of manufacturers. The 190 mm and 200 mm widths are sort of industry standards. I also noticed on their website, that Pro-Line makes R/C car rims. Do these look familiar to anyone? Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Offline | I'm not fully sure yet, but I dont think that the 'S' body wll fit. Although they are both 1/10 scale, 1/10 scale in regular cars is different from the 1/10 scale of the "mini" chassis. Unless the stretched chassis is much longer, my classic R/C cooper is close to half the size of my brother's 1/10 WRX which is a standard 4wd. The new MINI cooper body measures 352mm while the average 1/10 car measures about 440mm.Like in real life the MINI is shorter in length than most cars even though it is just as wide .I'm not totally sure this is true, it's just my findings.Emailing Proline may be your best option. -Andrew |

| Indecisive MINI Owner | I haven't yet purchased an MCS touring shell, but I have indeed raced RC cars for about 8 years now. The garage is stockpiled with about 5 cars at the mo (Two Tamiya saloons, a Lazer ZX-RR 4wd Buggy, A 4wd Schumacher Cat 2000 EC and a 2wd Schumacher Fireblade 2000 for anyone else whose raced before )Going to have to look into the MINI shells now though! ![]() Jon Blakeburn 2002 Raven Blue Lupo GTi |

Offline | The Tamiya body shell will NOT fit other R/C chassis - my Dad has this kit in his shop, & I have tried it on a few. Thus, if the MCS fits standard 1/10th chassis, it will NOT fit on the Tamiya MINI M03-L chassis. But that means it will fit on my 1/8th scale Mini Cooper sport TG10 mkII chassis (which is Nitro powered & huge fun!). So I should be able to get a Nitro-powered MCS up & running. Confused yet? Having looked at the Pro-Sport piccies, I am guessing that it is not true scale - they have stretched it to fit, hence it may look slightly odd! Tamiya tend to be sticklers for scale, hence the array of different chassis. BTW, if you are intending to race your RC MINI, make sure you find somewhere that has a class just for FWD Tamiya's, otherwise you will get thrashed! Tamiya's are great models, huge fun, but are not a good starting point for making a race-competitive machine... Mini Cooper. (Arrived 27/09/02 at 15:00) Red, White Roof. Chilli Pack. 17" S-Spokes. | MINI2 Regular | Racing RC Cars Hey guys, I regularly used to go to my local public r/c car track and race twice a month with my nitro 1/10 scale. (It's been a month i haven't because lack of funds ) So anyway, our track offers the M-Class where one of hte races is only mini's. It's really fun looking at them chirp around the track, I am not sure if i would get one though. "Real" r/c cars require tons of maintanence and having one nitro is enough work and fun for me Besides, getting an electric r/c will require me to learn a ton more information (and buy lots more equipment ) For anybody who is interested in getting one, i think you should! The fact that you can roll to the track in a mini cooper, and take out a nice 1/10 minicooper from inside sounds so cool doesn't it? One guy at our track put a brushless motor in the car, wow, it keeps up with the nitro cars even on the straights (the typical part of the track where a nitro car will pull ahead).-Anto DS/B MINI Cooper S Got It: 2/9/03. It's All Excellent. |

| MINI2 Master | That's a good point. The Pro-Line MCS body is designed to fit your average RWD or 4WD 1/10 scale car. It may very well be modified, or possibly the shell is not 1/10th with a real MCS, but fits a 1/10th scale buggy frame. The two available widths is a bit of a tip-off that the scale might be a tad wonky. Too bad Tamiya doesn't make an out-of-the-box MCS kit. They've got a Cooper, how hard is another polycarbonate shell? They could even make us pay extra for it! So... My options now are a regular buggy with the Pro-Line MCS Body. Try to modify an M-03L chasis to fit the body, or the body to fit the chasis. Or, get a MCS body for a Mini-Z racer... Those look like a lot of fun too. I used to race a Tamiya Frog 1/10th scale electric RWD buggy. Never, ever won any of the top 3 spots, but had great fun, and won tires, batteries, accessories. Quite a hoot from 12-16 years old. I remember deciding I'd get one when I was 12. After a string of destroyed RadioShack, Sears and other R/C cars (average of two a year, birthday and christmas) I went nuts when I found out there were much better ones that could be repaired! You could actually get parts for them. Had to save quite awhile to get it... Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |
