Offline | crash worthyness well here is my first pertinent question has anybody been rearended....we are worried that in the event that we get rearend the space behind the rear seat isn't very large. unfor. we live in the land of the SUV... the miata has a large rear buffer area, unlike the mini... |

Offline | Yes they have, some have also been flipped, squashed, you name it, it's pretty much happened. Best bet is to try a search for crash* the '*' means your search will come back with crash, crashed, crashing etc. to improve your search results. If you search the news section as well, you can find the official crash test results for UK and USA. Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | AS Paul said, a search will pull in lots of details. In short, every crash image I have seen shows the passenger compartment itact. I think the MINI is a very crash-worthy car. My insurance company seems to agree as I get a nice rate for the MINI too. ![]() MC/VR/B/PP&SP/CVT/Xenon |

Offline | rearended hi racer x, i got rearended pretty hard about a week ago in my S, and with out going in to two much detail all that needs to be replaced on my car is...rear bumper the plastic peice (not the steel plates and bar) and the exhaust(rear section only) so all in all imo i think the new mini is safe small car to be in. marc.c |

| Sponsor,Moderator & Racer | Speedsters site shows me rear ending another JCC competitor - Minor damage to the bumper was all he had - the video makes it look like there wasn't much of an impact but in reality the speed difference was probably around 20mph on impact |

Offline | lol....ah he was off-line anyway.....but that type of rear-ending doesn't create as much damage as somebody sitting at a stoplight and getting rear ended...i mean from the rear hatch to the bak seat is what 1-2 feet??? at most... Offline | Here is a rear end collision of a MCS stopped at a light, rearended in a chain collision, the occupants estimated they were hit at 10-15mph. Details at the roadfly mini site; I think this happened right before xmas. ![]() Two souls onboard, every body fine, except for the Mini. Tom F. EB/W "S" delivered Aug 30 |

Offline | Crash Worthyness Crash worthyness in the rear of a MINI is 4 Star as rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is the best rating a car can achieve. And I believe it is better than a Miata. SuperCooper |

Offline | Crash Worthyness I have seen a 30km rear ender, it was one of my customers 2 days after she bought unfortunately. $1,800(Can)fixed it. No hatch damage, and her seat protected from wiplash. And on the last post . . . it was not IHS that did the test I was thinking of. Sorry. SuperCooper |
