JCW milage worries :)

Hi all,

I'm seriously considering (and have been for some time) cashing in my beloved focus ST (2011 plate) for an R56 JCW mini. My only concern is that my ST is an 11 plate with 30K miles on the clock.. but for the price i would get for it, i would be looking at a 08-09 plate JCW with about 30-45K on the clock.
I just want some views on reliability basically. At what mileage do things start to go on these things.. and what are the major service milestones ? Do people think an 08 JCW with 45K on the clock will still be a reliable and fairly robust motor ? What things do it need to look for ?

obviously it all depends on how its been treated by the previous owner, but i would be looking for FSH etc etc... So help please

Thanks Richard.

You wont be able to carry half as much stuff inside the MINI as the Focus you know?
If your Focus is beloved then keep it for a bit longer.
I personally wouldnt buy a JCW secondhand, same as I wouldnt buy any high performance car used unless I knew it was a one owner car and personally knew the owner and how they treated the car.
If youre that serious about wanting one why not add a few bob and get one of the very latest F56 models to be launched shortly?

I know the JCW is much smaller, but as a 20 yo with no kids or anything that's not a problem haha. and the focus is a brill car, I just want something a bit more exclusive and fun to drive... Not that the focus is boring. But that seems pretty harsh saying you wouldn't buy one second hand at all + there is no way I can stretch to the new model unfortunately
