Question Aftermarket Accessories for R57

Hi all,

I am collecting my 2011 MINI Cooper Cabrio next Tuesday and I'm really excited.

I know it hasn't got an armrest but that's something I really like in a car so I was looking at the aftermarket armrests and wondering if anyone here has fitted and used one.

Also, are there any other accessories I should be considering other than a wind deflector?

Thanks!

Hi there, nice choice of car.

My MINI came with the armrest and TBH it's not that brilliant compared with ones in other cars I have had. It's not attached to the seat, so if you are not that tall and pull your seat forward then you may find it is only so good for resting your elbow on. The store age is handy though.

I think wind deflector is a must, I very rarely have anyone in the back seats so mine is almost permanently in there.

I swapped the velour mats for fitted MINI rubber ones as they are much more serviceable.

Not really sure about any other extras, mine was more or less fully loaded.

I would put the wind deflector in the 'absolutely essential' category, if you want to actually use the Convertible rather than put the roof down three or four times a year on special occasions (which must be all that some people do).

You can get a retrofit armrest from Mini dealers, pictured below, for 145 retail (ask for 130 and you'll probably get it). It is not the same as the factory one - that can be retrofitted but it costs a good deal more and requires removing the trim panel under the handbrake.

I'm another fan of the custom Mini rubber mats - much better than the silly 'velour' mats as the rubber ones lock in place.

The wind deflector is something that clips on and off without too much trouble isn't it? If it needs fitting by a dealer I won't be able to have it as I sometimes have 2 passengers...

No, it is easy for you to do, it clips in and out less than a minute and folds up nicely into a bag to pop into the boot.
