Oil Consumption Cooper Coupe

The wife's 63 plate Cooper Coupe uses the difference between min and max on the dipstick per month, which is about 700miles of mixed town & dual carriageway driving. Is this excessive for a petrol Mini? My diesel Clubman uses no in between services.

Dealer told me to keep an eye on the oil as they use approx 1ltr of oil every 1000 miles !!! at least they'll always have fresh oil in !!!!

If I remember correctly my dealer told me anything over 600 per litre is ok. Seems a bit steep to me but they don't see it like that!
