Mini One Inspection 2 HELP

Hey Mini owners,

I have a Mini One that's done 62k. So I put her in for the Inspection 2 and MOT at my local Aberdeen Mini dealer so I can keep up the FSH.

What started off at a standard £280 odd has ran into a small fortune so I need your help!

The garage told me they needed to replace a rear light, 2 new front tyres, new brake discs and pads and now they just told me I need a new rear caliper because the handbrake help to fail the MOT.

So far alll in all its sitting at £1300. Is this correct or are they taking the p**s?

I needed to get the dealer to do this so i can keep up the stamp. Was this a good idea?

Thanks!

Keith

What year is your Mini One?.......mine is 2002 on 60k and I have not been to a MINI Dealer since the TLC service package ran out at 5 years.......after that the high hourly rates in a main dealer are not worth paying for the little extra their FSH might give you at sale time on an older car. A good local independent garage could do the same work a lot cheaper and some of it may not be necessary....as BMW would like to make you think it is time to buy a new Mini from their showroom next door !

Rear light could be obtained secondhand from a breakers or ebay, new branded tyres will be much cheaper from a local tyre fitter bay, brake discs and pads all round were around £300 fitted (parts and labour) on mine at an independant and a rear caliper + MOT would not add much more to the bill......plus they can stamp your service book.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is a 2008 model. Argh if i knew that I would have done that, but I have already gave them the go ahead so that's that. I will know the next time.
