United-Kingdom 2009 Mini Convertible broken hood cable

Can anyone help or advice what is the best thing for me to do from there own experience......... I brought a 2009 Mini convertible for £8500 about 16 months ago and I only noticed this weekend the passenger side hood cable has broken so I have a decision to make...at present I don’t know what this is going to cost to get fixed and what the gamble is by doing so, I do how ever know Mini will offer me £7000 as trade in for it (unaware off the broken cable), so my thoughts are do I get it fixed on one side then sell the car privately and hope for a fair return or just trade it in? I am due to look at a 2009 Mini hatchback on sat for £8490 unfortatantly the spec is way less but I guess Minis are custom designed so the changes off getting every luxury is rare

If you do a forum search you will see where someone had a cable replaced at the garage and it cost them £640.
Bear in mind also if one cable has gone the other might not be far behind, worth checking?
I doubt the cable costs that much so if you can do it yourself it might be quite cost effective to do it?
