Offline | Apologies if this has already been asked. I was wondering if my baby (just 11 days old) Mini Cooper (called James if anyone is interested - named after James the red engine from Thomas the Tank Engine!) will clear the speed bumps with the stupid gaps in them (the ones that enable motorbikes not to slow down). I am really paranoid that I will scrape the underside of my car, so at the moment when I go over the bumps I make sure the gap is lined up with the centre of the car, so effectively not 'making use' of the gaps at all. I appreciate that not all of these speed bumps will be the same height, but has anyone experienced 'undercarriage scrape-age'!?! Any advice greatfully received - James and I are really beginning to detest these stupid speed bumps! Very special 'chillied' red and white Cooper, 17" alloys, and a very proud owner ![]() Born on 3 January 2003. |

Offline | I drive over those bl**dy things every day. From a road safety point of view they are cr*p since anything with a wide wheel base like the most dangerous vehicles on the road i.e. transit vans don't even notice they're there. Also most people in normal cars have sussed that the faster you go the less you feel them Going over them at 15-20 is a pain whereas if you take them at 30 it's a lot smoother.Rant over - don't worry James will be fine ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | I always drive over them like you do as I'm sure my car will "ground". Probably be only the aerodynamic flap thing underneath the car but it's much better to actually ride over the bump to not risk damaging your car ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those.............
