I don't know if any one knows what's in the future for countryman but as a general rule every car manufacturer makes, sometimes small and sometimes large, changes with each new model year. If you want one get it now and enjoy it. If you really like it you can trade it in sometime in the future for the new model. If you want to wait till they aren't going to make any changes before buying one you might have a long wait. Let alone the months or years you've denied yourself the pleasure of driving one.

If the countryman does get a gen 2, I believe the current cycle still has a way to go as only recently been face lifted.

The new mini now has a 5dr version if that takes your fancy?

They are slowly getting larger arent they, I was wondering how long it will be now before the MAXI name is reinstated?

If you want one buy it now or you will be waiting forever, just in case they might do this or that.
I was going to buy a Mk1 Escort new, and I thought the same and 44 years on Im still thinking about it but the prices have gone sky high, more than a new MINI!
If youre thinking do it now.

They are! I personally think this new shape is ugly too but I love the interior

I have a countryman one as a curtesy car ATM and it is a 2wd petrol, it is a little slow but a nice car to drive and travel in. Very comfortable and smooth.
