Offline | Lens covers for driving RHD Mini in mainland Europe Hi all, If your UK RHD MINI is going to Europe you need to mask a portion of the headlamp to stop dazzling oncoming traffic. I bought a masking kit from my dealer (£12.00) only to find it was for a LHD MINI travelling in the UK! Wrong part number.. got a refund! By scanning in the instructions for LHD, scaling up the diagram and mirroring it, I have produced a template for those that need it (attached). The templates are different for normal and Xenon. The template is for Xenon ONLY. Hope it is of use BTW I got 143 mph / 230 kph on a quiet bit of autoroute!! Jon Electric Blue / White MCS |

Offline | Thanks Jonjo ![]() Good timing, I was starting thinking about what I needed to do for the forthcoming trip to "The Ring". I've got Eurostyle number plates, do I still need a GB sticker?? Offline | I believe GB sticker is not required if you have Euro style number plates. Don't forget to arrange for insurance cover for driving in Europe, spare bulbs (required for France) and warning triangle (recommended I believe) ![]() And you need to take your V5 (ownership doc) and driving licence with you. I carry a first aid kit (recommended) but not a fire extinguisher ![]() DK ![]() |

Offline | Whole set I believe. MINI does a kit for non-Xenons, and they may do one for Xenons. Another reason to feel smug (no Xenons for me )As for insurance, you may already be covered for trips up to 72h, however, still need to check and get the green card etc.. DK ![]() |

Offline | If you order a bulb kit from MINI there are two part numbers, one for Xenon, one for Halogen. The Xenon kit comes with a std Halogen, but the main beam bulb is different as well (I was told)!. BTW Xenon bulbs rarely fail, but the French say you must have a replacement bulb. I don't think they care what type it is Part no. for Xenon bulb kit: B72.60.6.919.264 (£10.90 + VAT) Jon Electric Blue / White MCS |

Offline | That's cheap So I guess what you are getting is a halogen tempory bulb to see you through until you can get a proper Xenon bulb. I'll call my dealer now and order the kit so I can pick it up when my car goes in for some work ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. Offline | No, I don't think so. I don't think a halogen bulb would react well to the 30,000 volt surge given when starting xenon bulbs ![]() Perhaps the xenon HID capsules really are that inexpensive. They generally last the life of the car though. |

Offline | With the Xenon bulb kit I got a halogen H7. The contents sheet states: Lamp type: H7 Volts: 12 Watts: 55 Use lamp for: dipped-beam, main beam and front fog light I didn't realise that cars used H7s for their fog lights! Jon Electric Blue / White MCS |
