waving and flashing - we're not the only ones

don't know if anyone read the Sunday Times yesterday but there was a letter in there referring to a MINI owner who complained the previous week about other MINI people not waving.

It was from a Fiat Multipla driver who said that it was because a MINI is an ordinary car! AND he said that Multipla drivers always wave to each other .

Underneath it was another letter from another Multipla driver who said the same thing - seems like MINI owners aren't the only ones who are supposed to acknowledge each other!

I think we need to step up a gear

Multipla drivers aren't waving they are just shielding their eyes from the abomination of seeing another Multipla

I'm getting sick of waving at people who back look at me as if I'm a piece of sh*t

Any DS S owners driving in Edinburgh yesterday with an attitude like that

Think I'll ditch the MINI and buy a Multipla - I think they're groovy

i got a big wave from a classic mini driver yesterday afternoon - his was a classic version of mine - chili red, stripes etc.

went to the dealer's yesterday to sort out the shortfall insurance & ended up taking the long way home - 2 hours instead of 20 minutes!

Shamster - you're right, we do.

Bluedave - I'll second that - what a freak it is! They were probably crying for help.

KenL - I agree absolutely! Give them a glance now and if there's no hint of recognition I ignore 'em.

Hat - he probably recognised you from what you were wearing on your head! Regards.

Don't despair lads - we're winning!

When I'm driving the Beetle, others in Yellow New Beetles wave, and I wave at them. I get move waves from Beetles than MINIs in this area.

Pulled up to a light next to a new Chili Red/White "S" this morning. I tried to waive, but the lady driving it seemed to be unaware of anything to either side of her car. On the other hand, there is a nice classic MINI wagon in the area that I have seen a few times, he always has a smile and waive.

A friend with a 911 (996) told me he also used to flash and get flashed at by other 911's but that etiquette seems to have died out now.

Everyone's at it!!

I wave and flash lights.
Best thing you can do, is just keep doing it. The people that dont understand will catch on. Its a must with this kind of car. We area a family.
Heck someties I wave to my own mother on the road, and she doesn't see me.
Just keep on waving!

Paul

I've had a few waves from other Wrangler drivers, especially when I've got the top down.

the Wranglers are so rare over here though, that that only occures a couple of times a year

I did have one other owner give me song and verse on his favorit beach (for driving on) at a petrol station once though.
