Hi everyone, this's my first post

I've test drove a Cooper S a few days ago and i fell in love with it and I'm thinking of trading in my car for a Cooper S.

Here're some question for all of u.......
How much did u pay for the cooper?

What dont u like about the cooper?

what do u like about the cooper?

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?

Thanx everyone for reading this post

Hi and welcome

How much did u pay for the cooper?

Full retail - this was back in september. You may be able to negotiate a bit off if the dealer happens to have exactly what you want, but don't count on it.

What dont u like about the cooper?

Um.

what do u like about the cooper?

It's a rare beast - a small, fun to drive hatchback in north america. The wheel mounted stereo controls (assuming you get a Multi-function steering wheel); the single remote/door key; comfort opening (open both windows using the remote) and lots of other little details. The heated seats are going down well this week too

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?

The last car I owned was a Mazda Miata.

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?

Yep, though I would've ordered sports seats.

speedx3 -- welcome!

1. Bought my MCS for MSRP ($24K US out the door)
2. Don't like -- gas mileage isn't there, but its coming up (don't really care)
3. Do like -- handling, quickness, the looks and thumbs up from young and old, but most of all driving it!
4. Before -- Jeep Grand Cherokee, CRX Si, Toyota 4x4, Porsche 914 2.0 (I tend to go from big car to little car to big car to little again)
5. Yes I would still choose my MINI!

Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable!

I just don't feel comfortable in a non-personality cars..

I always felt more comfy in a Beetle than in a Passat TDI
I always felt more comfy ina Citroen 2CV than in some GOlf or other middle class cars..

I like community-feeling when on the road .. waving,flashing

I am PROUD to be a MINI-Driver.. yes

I hate all these japanese imports rice-cookers .. no thank you ..

Re: Are u proud to be a mini owner?

What did I pay? I paid MSRP of $27100 CND for my Canadian Launch Edition MINI Cooper last April but you may be able to swing a deal now. 2002 Coopers are already discounted on the lots. MCS cars are still listed at full price but there are some sitting on the lots so you may luck out.

What don't I like? The washer fluid bottle is very small; it holds less than half a jug of fluid so it must be refilled very often. In cold weather some of the door bits rattle but the stereo easily masks it; in regular weather it is pretty much silent (might have the dealer look at that if it keeps up).

What do I like about it? Handling, braking, the way it shifts from understeer to oversteer just by lifing the throttle, the speed sensitive stereo volume and wiper speed, the theatre brightening/dimming interior lights, the looks inside and out, the sound of the engine, the big central speedo/odometer, the fact that it leaves the low beams on when it turns the high beams on, runflat tires, heated bolstered sport seats, etc.

I traded a Geo Metro in for my Cooper so I already liked small cars but this time I wanted one that people wouldn't laugh at. Our family car is a Saturn LW200 wagon. Not sure why that matters. The MINI Cooper is my first ever cool car.

Would I choose it again? Definitely! Only waffle would again be, do I go for the cleaner looks of the Cooper (what I've got now) or cough up another $4K plus increased insurance and gas costs for an S with lots more power & torque and a big ugly hood scoop and silly carry-handle spoiler that I don't care for -- just my opinion folks, please don't get your knickers in a knot

Harry

What are you driving now, may I ask?

How much did u pay for the cooper?

For my MCS, I paid exactly list. That's the going rate in Canada, unless you can find a 2002 still on the lot.

What dont u like about the cooper?

It gets dirty as hell at the drop of a hat. But that's symptomatic of all hatchbacks really. Keeping it clean is a bear.

what do u like about the cooper?

Where to start? The handling, the quirky good looks, the torquey supercharged engine, the small size, nimbleness, relative rarity, lack of blind spots. I could go on...

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?

Acura RSX Type S.

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?

Definitely yes.

Yes you may~~~
I drive a 2001 Civic LX coupe now, and ive changed the tires, wheel, spring, shocks, and it still doesnt handle good enough..... besides there's way more then too many civics on the road >.< but my parents bought me that and i had no choice.. now i've saved up a bit$$ and have a decent job in a bank, so, i think it's time to trade in my civic for a nicer car~~~~

after i've test drove the MCS, i just felt in love with it, from in to out, from the engine to suspension, it's just great~ but i'm just worring if i'm making the rite choice, or is there something better out there that's around the same price.....

but after reading your replies, i think i'll go for it.

Its a sportscar that you can take to the warehouse store. Its funny to see the look on the Suburban-driving-soccer-moms face when it all fits.

Every morning you look forward to the drive to work.

I feel proud to be at the beginning of the rebirth of the small car in North America.

go on, just get one, you know you want it.

Re: Are u proud to be a mini owner?

How much did u pay for the cooper?
Retail plus $595 "MINI motoring package"...ugh.

What dont u like about the cooper?
Warning: incredible nitpick mode on! Washer fluid reservoir too small, transmission could have better feel (liked the S better), shift knob = cold as heck or hot as heck depending on weather (mine had frost on it this morning), motor peaks too soon - should rev more freely to redline, throttle response could be better, sport seats should be "sportier", front cup holders almost useless, no "auto up" on windows, could stand to lose a couple hundred pounds for a car this size, losing the temperature gauge due to the NAV system, some of the plastic trim looks/feels a little cheap.

what do u like about the cooper?
Warning: ridiculous amount of enthusiasm to follow! Handling, brakes, clutch, looks, traction control, stability control, xenon's with power wash, heated seats(!!!), intermittent wipers, steering, "tossability" of the car, "fun to drive" factor, control feel and placement, seat memory on both seats, NAV system, MFSW, stereo, the fact that the car DOESN'T beep when I lock it, the way the interior light slowly comes on when I do, can't wait to drive the car again.

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?
Owned: Dodge Darts (5) (yes I AM embarassed about this), Dodge Coronet, Plymouth Wagon, Accord, Preludes (2), 240SX, Civic SI hatch, Miata, Civic EX coupe, Toyota Solare SE V6 w/5 speed, Acura CL Type S

Test driven before buying Cooper: Cooper S, Civic SI hatch, Ford Focus SVT, Acura RSX Type S

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?
In spite of all the nit picky stuff I listed...abso-freakin-lutely, I LOVE this car!!!

Tell me about it. I had two Civics (a '96 hatch and a '99 SiR coupe). They were pretty good cars, especially the SiR. I drove a 2001 Civic though (actually, it was a 1.7 EL, but there's little or no difference) and found it to be a reall anodyne ride. Not to my liking.

After driving an LX, I think you'll find the MCS to be a bit of a revelation. It most likely won't be as rock-solid reliable as a Honda, but then what is (short of a Toyota...)?

What do I like?

How much did u pay for the cooper?
I paid a bit over list, about 26K for my MCS

What dont u like about the cooper?
The fact that everyone asks me what my gas milage is, as if it was a Geo Metro or something. I get tired of having to explain that it is a Sports Car. Also that it has made my 66 Alfa Giulia Sprint GT Veloce pretty much obsolete. I used to drive the Giulia when I needed a bare bones, hard core sports car experience. I now get that with the MINI that I drive to work every day.

what do u like about the cooper?
Everything else. This car is the most soulful car on the market. Name me another with as much character! This last weekend I took it for a blast through Ortega Hwy (a tight sporting canyon road here in SoCal) and believe me, this car kicks *****. I was very impressed as where some of the cars that couldn't keep up!

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?
Alfa Romeo 164S

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?
Yes, Indeed Yes!

How much did u pay for the cooper?
-retail, plus 3 packages and lapis blue leather $24,425 and i even got it 3 months ahead of schedule :-)

What dont u like about the cooper?
-the metal gearshift knob...when it's cold...boy is it cold. but it looks real nice, and i just wear gloves :-) basically, there is nothing major i don't like about the cooper :-)

what do u like about the cooper?
-looks, performance, feel, attention i get (what can i say? i crave the attention that only random strangers at drive thru windows and gas stations can give :-D)

What car do u drive beside/before the cooper?
-before the cooper S i was driving a 1998 Civic EX sedan. quite a nice upgrade

and last, if u could choose again, would u still choose the cooper?
