Need help choosing a MINI

Hey all,
I am the current owner of a 2002 VW GTI, but it is on it's last leg with 232,000 miles. I am looking to replace it and think I want to go with a MINI, but I could use some advice. Looking in my area, I found a few used MINIs in my price range. All of the ones I am looking at are just the standard cooper, not the S. The first is a 2005 with 96,000 miles for $6500 that looks to be in decent shape based on Craigslist pictures. The second option is a 2007 with 55,000 miles for $8300. The third is a 2006 with 103,000 miles for $6300. The final option is from a dealer (the previous three are on Craigslist), a 2004 with 63,000 miles for $8900. Does anyone have any experience with these years? I would prefer one of the cheaper options, how reliable are 2005-06 coopers with high miles? Would it be a better financial decision to go with the 2007 in the long run? I am not interested in racing or anything like that, just getting from point A to point B, and I love the look of the MINI. Thanks so much for any help!

2007 (or later) models will be a 2nd Gen MINI ... earlier models will be 1st Gen MINI.

Are you looking at cars with a manual or automatic transmission? If manual you'll want a 2005 or later model ... automatic 2007 or later.

Stay away from cars built prior to July 2005 (2004 and older models) as they will have the problematic Midlands transmission rather than a Getrag unit.
