United-Kingdom LED driving lights questions

HI there

Recently got OEM LED driving lights fitting to my R56 which are great, however.

The lights come on in the following order with ignition:
Lights off position - full ring
Sidelight - 1/3 ring top
Headlights - 1/3 ring top
Full beam - full ring

Is there a way to have the full ring on all the time or at least with the headlights? The issue being is that I like to use automatic headlights and I like the full ring too and with the automatic headlights I only get the 1/3?

Also I only have basic headlights with my mini and currently have Philips X-treme Vision H4 Headlight Bulbs - is there a better headlight bulb which would match the led driving lights better?

Appreciate any help

The OEM Mini LED lights are DRLs - that's Daytime Running Lights. The whole idea of them is to make the car more easily seen in daylight without headlights (not to show off), and the DRLs cause glare - that's how they work and it doesn't cause other road users a problem in the daytime. So as soon as you switch on side or dipped lights, the DRLs switch down to just the top 1/3rd to not cause glare as the car now thinks it must be night time.

So, no, you can't have the DRLs on with the headlights unless you run new wiring, as there has to be a way to switch off the DRLs at night.

I have the DRLs in my Paceman and have the lights set to auto all the time and get the full ring of LEDs on whenever the lights are off but as soon as the Auto headlights switch on at dusk .etc it goes to a 1/3 of the circle, as soon as the lights go back off it goes back to Full ring of LEDs.

One thing I did find confusing is in the menu, there is an option for Daytime Running Lights and by switching that on in my car it put the Headlights on and made the DRLs go to only a 1/3 of the circle. As soon as I switched this option off the DRL LEDs went back to Full ring!

I experienced the DRLs at night last night for the first time when I turned on the ignition. They are really bright (albeit they don't have as much distance as headlights). I think I would have preferred to have the lights stay as a halo and just dim for side lights the 1/3 segment doesn't anywhere near as cool.

Does anyone have any suggests for complimentary bulbs for the standard headlights?
