When I first got my beloved MC back in August 2002 I would alwaysd wave to any other new MINI's on the road. And delighted MINI owners would always wave\flash back. These days there are SO many ppl in MINI's where I live, ppl just don't bother anymore.
I am thinking, can we invent some new MINI2 users greetings when we drive past each other, something like flash flash wave...
Cant be too complicated or distracting to other drivers, two quick flashes should be no more trouble than one 'normal' flash (which MINI themselves encourage).
How about this - when you pass a MINI you hold the horn on for about 3 seconds as you pass - you'd get this double loud horn blast with that doppler effect aswell....
I always do 2 flashes anyway. 2 beeps of the horn as well sounds good but would it attract the wrong kind of attention from other road users? Plus you'd need to be pretty close to passing each other for the horn thing to work properly.
Something else themed around 2.
How about doing the peace sign which if not reciprocated could be quickly turned around the other way a la Harvey Smith salute?
How about a masonic hand shake without the physical shake...not to be confused with a rude hand gesture followed by some sort of combination of hazard lights and horn!!
Regards
Christopher
Ps. I am maintaining the traditions of flashing at fellow MINI drivers!
I'll be getting a MINI2.com rear window sticker as soon as they are available (any dates on this?).
Also, why not have a smaller MINI2 white-on red sticker to go on the side of the number plate (as with the blue EU thingy)?? Big letter as poss, should be easy to spot from the front instantly informing you of a fellow MINI2er!
Don't know if there would be any issues with stickers on the reg plate though.....
