Can the 2002 to 2006 Mini Cooper S automatic transmission be installed into the same year base model to replace the CVT??? And if can bolt up, will it be compatible with the ECU or other electronics???
I believe it will require changing the shifter box, transmission, axles, transmission mounts,
reverse switch, automatic transmission control unit and bracket and wiring, and possibly a
custom ECU reprogram. There are probably some other miscellaneous bits.
Ask Way Motor Works, I believe they have done many CVT to Getrag 6-speed conversions
and may know about the feasability of a CVT to Aisin conversion.
Thanks, Cristo. I figured it wouldn't be easy but not sure it is worth that much effort. Plan A will be to rebuild the CVT but also trying to look at any other options. I appreciate the info.
