Need opinions. do I join the Mini family or the VW family.
Hi people and I must say what a nice forum you have.
I need your help about a pressing issue which is stressing my noodle big time.
I have been looking to get a more ecomical car as I currently drive a Honda Civic Type R GT which does 36mpg and I travel 100 miles a day. Diesel is the logical option but in terms of a car to out it in I'm stumped.
I went to Alpha Romeo, Nissan, BMW, Volvo, VW to look for a new car but nothing turned me on so to speak.
Yesterday I thought I would give mini a call on the off chance that they would have something my 6'4 frame would fit into. The car the dealer sent me was an awesome (mini cooper SD) I was shocked at the amount of character it had. Rear spoiler, white alloys, packed with tech too.
Here is the sticking point. I have also been offered a VW golf TDI which isn't as sporty but is more grown up. (I'm 33)
I'm now totally confused as to what to get. I drive so far everyday that surely a fun car is the way to go however the practical nature of the TDIis good. The TDi just doesn't excite me as much though.
I currently spend £400 pm on fuel so it needs to save money but also be something I can love and cherish as I'm into car detailing.
If you could let me know if you had a similar situation before you joined the mini family that would be great. If you can think about these themes as well that would help me out enormously.
Do tall men or women get on ok with it.
A year down the line is it still your ideal car
Does the character wear off
Is it a girls car? (I don't think this but have you encountered it)
Babies - did any of you have a child after getting a mini and then regretted it?
I'm test driving both at 5:30pm this afternoon.
I didn't want yo get rid of my Type R as its kept in perfect condition and is fun but it's time to be more ecomical. I just feel the TDI is a little to grown up and dare I say "pedestrian'.
