Offline | SE Pennsylvania Jet Black MCS Stolen I live in the Bucks County area of Pennsylvania and my Jet Black MCS was stolen last night. Since it's a fairly unique car to the area it may yet be found. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Seriously Disappointed, Pete '03 Jet Black MCS - MISSING IN ACTION |

I will do my Joyriders Drive Carefully and Give the Black Cooper Back In Perfect Condition Dance. Oh and the Leave a Full Tank Dance as well. Every little bit helps, you know. | Kaptain Krutaroo | How the heck did they steal it? Sorry to hear about your loss... how'd they steal it? I thought BMW/MINI's were next to impossible to steal because of the microchip controlled nature of the key. Maybe I'm incorrect? Let us know how it all pans out. Cheers and good luck. Offline | kcollins - no car is impossible to steal...to a trained theif it is just a delay tatic. Seems that alot of car thefts now are the tow away kind. Depending on your location and how smart the theifs are they will steal the car by towing it - they can spend time later in a secure location getting into the car and getting it running. Additionally alot of new cars on the coasts are using Tracker type systems...so they will tow your car to an low traffic area in the middle of now where...leave it there for a few days...and if still there then they come back and bring it to their shop. They don't want their chop shop busted and lose all their stuff. Hopefully since the car is fairly rare still it will be found. My best wishes for a speedy return of your MINI. |

Offline | Here's the story... Sorry for the late post but I spent most of the day on the phone with the insurance company and the police. Thanks for all of your well wishes. As for the story... Well. I've been waiting for my MCS for years, and at the time I had a great job. Shortly after taking delivery of the car I was laid off from work and I found myself scrambling for a job to pay the bills. To make a long story short, I started to deliver pizzas. my car was stolen while I was out on delivery and it was running. I can't tell you how much that kills me, but you can't turn the car off after every delivery cause you'll fry the starter. It's funny, yesterday the local paper called me about the carjacking and today it's on the front page of the local news. I'll copy the article below: Pizza Delivery Man is "MINI-JACKED" by Harry Yanshak Courier Times Peter Aiston quit delivering pizza Monday night right after a man wearing a gray knit cap stole his brand new Mini Cooper "S" - the "supercharged" model he used for deliveries. "For the money you make, it wasn't worth it anymore," said Aiston, 33, of Bristol Township. Aiston, a laid-off trade show designer who had been delivery pizzas for about three months, said he bought the car for about $22,000. He wanted one since hearing about it three years ago, he said. When it finally came on the market, he put in his order but had to wait six months to get it. He said he left the car idling on Dover Drive in Falls about 7 p.m. Monday. He had just finished a delivery at a house when he heard a door slam. He ran and grabbed at the bumper and then opened the driver's door. For a moment, he considered jumping on the roof like a Hollywood stuntman. The robber hit the gas. "I was yelling at him to stop while I was being dragged. A car passed by but didn't stop. I couldn't believe that no one came outside to help," Aiston said. For all his troubles, Aiston got "road rash" - brush burns from being dragged over the pavement - on his knees and forearms. His hands were sore from holding on to the door frame until the moving car eventually tossed him. Falls police said Aiston's Mini carried the Pennsylvania license plate EZS-4119. Anyone with information about the carjacking sould contact the Falls police at 215-949-9100 Well I guess that's about it. Thanks again for the well wishes. Offline | Sorry to hear about your misfortune Archangel... I was wondering what will happen about your insurance claim... if you left the keys in your ignition and then left the car in the UK and it was stolen, the insurers will refuse point blank to pay out for your loss. Is this different in the US? I would never leave the keys in my car unless I was actually sat in it for this very reason. If you were paying for your fuel for instance at a petrol station and someone jumped in your car and drove it away because you left the keys in it, then the insurers won't pay out. Their line is that you as the owner have to take all reasonable precautions to prevent the theft in the first place. Guess your Pizza's were never late for delivery? All the best, and good luck for recovering the car and getting back to your career. |

Offline | That stinks! I wonder if they were following you in another car and waiting for a chance to grab up the car. Hope it works out for you okay. I'll keep my eyes peeled down here in NW Philly. Do you have a pic that you can post so we know what sort of wheels or other distinguishing features it has? Offline | VIN Sorry to hear the bad news, that's just crappy. My other suggestion also is to at least share the last 7 digits of your VIN (it should be on some paperwork you have, or in the owner's lounge) That'd be the simplest way. Also Maybe MINIUSA can offer advice? Can't hurt to ask. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Re: How the heck did they steal it? The current trend is for the bad guys to break into your home and steal the keys. Most people have their keys within 10 feet of the door. I know a couple of guys who had this happen - one was a M5. Apparently you cannot now insure an M5 in Canada unless you install Boomerang or something similar aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter |

Offline | VIN I don't know if this will help but here's the VIN: WMWRE33403TD58288 State Farm has been great in handling this claim. I've got full coverage for theft. To try to answer the question about US claims on theft of vehicles while idling, All I know so far is that I'm covered. It stinks knowing that I played a major part in the theft but at least I'll know better next time. Believe it or not I had an appointed at Princeton Mini to get a faulty O2 sensor replaced the next morning. When I called them to tell them that I won't be in because it was stolen, they were very sorry and told me if the police recover it that they would happy to do the repair work on it. That's nice of them... '03 Jet Black MCS - MISSING IN ACTION |
