I'm thinking of updating my "base" 2004 Mini-Cooper, which has been very reliable - having NEVER failed me: It's always taken me where I needed to go.
I have always used "Regular Unleaded" gas - 87 octane - I just tried a tank of higher octane once to see if I could tell a difference (no).
So, the question: the new mini hatchback with the 3-cylinder Turbo is supposed to use higher octane "Premium" fuel - just as my old Mini was supposed to.
Does it really make any difference? Can I get a new Mini & go ahead and use "Regular"??
Or is the Turbo going to actually require Premium?
I'm asking about REAL WORLD, here - not competition or competition-style driving, I'm 76 and don't need to go very fast - just love Minis (My first Mini Cooper was in 1963) uzzled:
