United-Kingdom 2003 model year changes

To all new and perspective MINI owners, here are some changes that you maybe interested in:

All MINIs will come equipped with a second remote key as standard from March. This key replaces the current non-remote key.

From March 2003, all MINIs will also benefit from the addition of a brake pad wear warning light. The warning light will be situated on the main speedometer between the 'run-flat' warning light and the 'air-bag' warning light.

MINI One and MINI Cooper
A new exterior paint colour, Solid Gold Metallic will replace Silk Green Metallic from March. All six metallic paints are priced at £250.

Steptronic steering wheel paddles will be offered as an option on all MINI One and MINI Coopers with Automatic CVT transmissions. The price of this option is £50.*

Perforated sports leather steering wheel has been added into the MINI Cooper Chili pack at no extra cost. It can also be selected as an option for MINI One (from £20). This steering wheel is now standard on MINI Cooper S.

Chrome line exterior
The content of the chrome line exterior has been extended to include:
MINI One
Two front bumper inserts, one rear bumper insert, radiator slats, boot handle and exhaust trim £150
MINI Cooper:
Two front bumper inserts one rear bumper insert £90
MINI Cooper S
Chrome line exterior is also available for the first time on MINI Cooper S and includes the radiator slats, boot handle and chromed exterior door mirror caps £60.

MINI One, MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S
New options available for all models from March are as follows:
Top tint windscreen £50
Chromed door mirror caps £40

Wood effect interior trim
This new trim completes the range of MINI interior trims. Wood effect trim will cover the facia and gear knob only - the door rings and pockets remain in silver.

Pricing realignment
From 1 March 2003 all MINI models will increase in price by £100. This is the first increase in MINI pricing since it was launched in the UK in July 2001. The new on the road prices will be as follows:

MINI One £10,400
MINI Cooper £11,700
MINI Cooper S £14,600

Best Wishes

Thanks. It's all been posted before, but it's nice to get the full list in one concise post.

This is why my new car is a Week 10 build. Thanks Wollaston MINI!

I've ordered mine already. Would I still be charged the £14,500 or £14,600 when it arrives in April/May?

You'll be charged whatever it is when delivered. I remember reading the small print on my order confirmation which said the price was not guaranteed.

You could of course argue for a £100 discount

No real changes

except for a few bits on the options. But all you get extra on the standard car is Brakepad light and extra key! and that for an extra £100 notes!

I'm glad I ordered my ONE on week 8 build!!!!

Dont think you should be able to add chrome gille and boot lift to a ONE - after all these should be unique to the Cooper. They'll be offering to altenate roof colours next!!

My dealer told me an interesting variation on the above. From week 10 March build , additional remote key but chrome line exterior extra bits are only available on new orders placed since last week, NOT the beginning of March build. I thought I'd won a watch as I ordered the chrome on my MINI One due week 10. Am I being told porkies? There was no mention of a price increase. Still £100 on an 11.5K car is better than 14.8% on 10.5K from an internet supplier I had the misfortune to deal with

Will USA spec. cars also receive these changes?

I am considering selling my Cooper & ordering an S.

This release was for UK models cars, but I imagine it would apply to US cars too.

Only if that is written into the contract. Under a normal sale contract, the price is as agreed at the time the contact is made.

My new vehicle quotation/order specifies that my Cooper S is £14500 and it's coming at the end of April.

Yes but if the contract has small print (like mine did) that the price wasn't guaranteed due to price changes beyond the dealers control then they've got you covered - unfortunately
