Yellow Cooper What memory options can be programmed into Mini??

I have read the FAQ called "What memory options can be programmed into my Mini?" but this was written 2 years ago, does anyone know what memory options are available on a 2003 build Mini?

  • Different activating signals to confirm that the vehicle has been locked/unlocked. (Seems on early builds only)
  • Deactivating the headlight courtesy delay function (AKA 'Follow me home lights'). With 40, 90, 150, 240 second delay options.
  • Switching on the inside light via the remote control. (Unconfirmed).
  • Activating / deactivating the interior movement detector/tilt alarm sensor via the remote control. (Available by 'double locking' but not recommended for insurance and security purposes).
  • Automatically locking the vehicle after setting off.
  • Stop function of window lifts when opening/closing.
  • Selective central locking where the first press unlocks only the drivers door, then the second press unlocks the remainder of the vehicle./Selective Central Locking with key in door lock.
  • Holding RC down options: Unlock Boot, Comfort Opening, or nothing. (Remote comfort opening, not on all vehicles).
  • Windscreen Wipers. Switch back when stationary, active or not active.
  • Automatic door unlock with the hand brake.
  • Speed sensing wipers.
  • Locking when engine is running (with
    second key) .
  • Activating/deactivating daytime driving
    lamps.
  • Power sunroof - 1 touch open and/or close.
  • Power sunroof - 1 touch raise
  • Park Distance Control Loudness in back
  • Park Distance Control System OK signal on every activation
  • Rain sensor Threshold settings

The main thing to do here is ask your dealer for a list of options for YOUR car, they can plug it in and tell you in a matter of minutes.

I've just updated the FAQ, kept meaning to, but forgetting.

If anyone knows anything I've missed, let me know.

Opening of all windows (and sunroof if fitted).

Basically you can (either/or) hold the key in the unlock position, hold down the unlock button, and the windows roll down/sunroof open if you've got one.

audible low fuel

... can be programed (at least on my 03 MCS - 12/02 build). If you have it programmed the chime will bong when the red light comes on that indicates you are low on fuel. It also will chime everytime you start the car and the fuel level is at or below the red light stage. It is the same chime sound that is made when the ext temp falls below 38 degrees F.

At MINI of San Francisco, I got my salesman to fax me the program checklist today, so I can have my car ready for Wednesday pickup (moved from Tuesday, probably to coincide with Wednesday's predicted rain), and there were only 4 options printed on the sheet, and another hand-written:

Daytime Driving Lights
Pathway Lighting
Central Locking- Automatic locking after pulling away
Selective Central Unlocking
Comfort Opening

After all the stuff I've read on this and other forums, I feel like I'm being given the old "mushroom treatment". I understand some options may be illegal here (i.e.: 1-touch window closing), and the trunk latch options have been problematic, but after all the cost and effort that went into the array of options, has MINIUSA just ash-canned the better part of them or is my dealer scared to try what is available? I get the feeling that some areas in the U.S. are getting more options as time goes on. The prod date was January 17th, but it was on the dock ready to ship a day or two before that. I'm having trouble finding a number for MINIUSA, so if some kind person could post it, I'll call on Tuesday and get back with any news I can glean from them.

I am appreciative of any help that anyone can offer on this.

Thanks,

Thefreddo

Sadly, not all MINI's are created equal, which is why I make sure I add the "The main thing to do here is ask your dealer for a list of options for YOUR car, they can plug it in and tell you in a matter of minutes." disclaimer.

Paul

I had the auto lock and unlock settings done on my One at its first service.

The doors now lock when a speed of about 12 mph is reached.

The first attempt to set up selective unlocking only enabled it for using the key in the door - they had to try again to enable it for the remote.

The doors unlock when the ignition is turned off - not when the handbrake is applied. Logical really, as applying the handbrake could be for a hill start rather than parking. Does mean that you have to use the unlock switch to let passengers in while the engine is still running. Why can't the car be programmed to recognise your friends and unlock the door automatically??

I thought that was the case, but the options list(s) I saw said on handbrake.

I'll have to correct that later.

what is pathway lighting?
and iaa: add to that list of friend recognition: recognizing the car owner so we wouldn't have to have the key out - and, turning on the engine in bad weather as well!!!

My guess is that when people here in the States hear "follow me home" they immediately think of a stalker. That is just part of the G. Bush fear and paranoia phenomenon. We're learning to live with it...
