Xenons will flicker momentarily as they first come on and then they move up and down as they level and set themselves, park it up against a wall in the dark and switch them on, you can see them move.
Plus you wont have xenons if you havent go headlamp wash.
The Thule short roof adapter is a side bar that goes between the roof rack feet so that one clamp is on the front rack and one is halfway between the feet - so still within the door opening:
Yes, racks like Thule need the adapter since otherwise the rear bar isn't held on. Mini bars fit into attachments in the gutter but the Thule doesn't use those, so you need the adapter. I don't care for this system, which doesn't seem half as secure as the Mini one, but I guess Thule know it works.
Well, it turns out I've got xenons so that's a bonus (I think!).
As for the roof bars, I still can't work out if the Thule will fit over the rear window, so I've bought everything including the short roof adaptor and am going to have a play with it.
Still interested to hear if anyone has managed to fit the Thule without the adaptor (but not both over the drivers door).
Cheers, Dave
