Offline | New mini V New Beetle This is just an idea that popped in to my head at work. As some of you might know I used to have a new shape Beetle and was a member on the newbeetle website, its probably as big as this one. Anyway some of the guys on there think they have some pretty quick bugs, and I was wondering if anyone with a quick MINI would be up for challanging the Beetle lot to a Drag Race at somewhere like Santa Pod in the summer?. It would only be a bit of fun nothing serious just a laugh. Not quite sure how we would organise it, but could be fun What do you reckon? Cooper S : Dark silver, white roof |

Offline | Excuse my ignorancce (!), but to have a drag race don't you need a parachute that comes out of the back of the car? I don't remember seeing that option in the accessories brochure ![]() Very special 'chillied' red and white Cooper, 17" alloys, and a very proud owner ![]() Born on 3 January 2003. |

Offline | Santa Pod is a Drag Strip. So two cars going up a peice of tarmac on a drag strip is called drag racing. I wouldn't expect anything less from a Gooner!!!lol ![]() Cooper S : Dark silver, white roof |

Offline | While stoplight to stoplight seems to be the standard for fast, the better test would be a twisty street course. If the New Beetle owners want to know who's really faster, they should go out on a course with some curves to find out. |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Be sure to post the results! I have a Beetle TDI and an MC with CVT. With both engines warmed up, I couldn't say which is quicker. The Beetle has the VW handling package so it goes through curves almost as well as the MC. Course, you know TDI and CVT, acceleration wasn't the top of my want list. ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |
