I just picked up my Cooper yesterday. and it's pure fun driving her. Did already 250 km.
I promise I'll post some pics and give you her specs as I 've got my digicam. I 'll buy one propably this afternoon.
But...
1. As I was driving around I noticed an irritating squeaky sound comming from behind. It sounds like a little bird sitting in the back. You only hear it when driving on bad roads. When the road condition is fine, the little bird seems to sleep.
Normally I wouldn't mind (my 7 years old Honda Civic even squeaked when it was parked in the garage) but I think a new car shouldn't be squeaking at all.
Did anyone else noticed this annoying sound? And how did you fix it? Or will it dissappear automatically after the car's break-in? Or should I mention it to my dealer?
2. I also noticed the sound of the fan (auto-airco) in position 1 is quite loud. Even with the radio on, you can stil hear it. It's as loud as the fan in position 2 or even 3 in my former Honda. My question: is this normal? Does yours also sounds that loud in position 1.
Sorry for my very poor English, but I'm in a hurry, you know?
Congrats whit your MINI
ASAP pics please we are waiting for them...
i.v.m. your points 1+2 I dont have them, but ask your dealer for a sollution.
Are you back now ...from buying a digicam???

It sounds like you have the often mentioned hatch rattle. If you are close by, take it to your dealer and drive them around on bumpy roads so they can hear it -- hopefully they can fix it. If you want to try adjusting things yourself, check out the faults and fixes forum and search for rattle, squeek, etc. I fixed mine on my own (unscrewed the bumpers and put some black electrical tape on the hatch D-ring).

Is probably the hatch rattle. Read some more posts. Because I've PDC I don't want to unscrew the bumpers myself. I'll mention it to my dealer and see what they say. I'll stay in touch. Thx for your reply.
Have the dealer check the fan too. I have read several posts about noisy fans on the auto A/C, but on mine, once the temp satableizes, it is not very loud, so I do not think loud is "normal". The defroster . . . That is loud.
