Can you lock the car but not activate the alarm? When my dog stays in the car when parked, I would want the car locked, but certainly not have the alarm activated.

(Don't worry, he's not left there on warm days.....)

You can lock the car and deactivate the interior sensors by pressing the lock button twice.

Thats the answer..also useful if your MINI ever finds its way onto a ferry!!

Hey uua,

Since you're from Van Isl I assume you got your MINI from Victoria. Did your car come with the alarm or did you get it after? If so how much was it as I am considering getting it if it is available.

I'd not thought of that and I'll be on an overnight ferry on monday with my MINI! Guess it also deactivates the tilt sensor aswell. I could have found it the next morning with a dead battery.

I didn't get the alarm with the car. (It was very unusual to have them shipped with alarm back then. The dealer said that it was pretty much an after sales install. I think the quoted price was about $1200. A lot I thought, sice the remote, pickup, immobiliser and power locks are already in the car. I've been putting off getting it installed because of the dog thing. However, with this news (above) I will probably go for it soon.
