United-Kingdom Running in new Mini

Any thoughts from anyone in the know on running in new cars (especially the new Mini!) as I'm due to get my Cooper on the 18th April. I know that nowadays, most engines are bench-run and are built to very close tolerances, so running in may not be as necessary as it used to be?? Can anyone set me straight on this, cos I don't want to damage my nice new engine, but I want to play asap!!!!!

Thanks oopsdy, I'll have a look at the threads you suggest. I've got just over a month to go & I'm already going to clear out the garage and put carpet on the walls of it tomorrow.......sad, but true!!!!!!!!

Stay below 4500 revs for first 1300 miles and do various revs at various gears. Don't do constant speed on long motorway journeys, vary the speed etc.

Tx, for info. M3sid, I'll do just that. Don't want to bruise the new baby!
