? ? ? www.mini3.com ? ? ?

I've had my MCS for a little while now & although I love it (almost too much sometimes!) there are a few things that I would love changed on the 'new' new mini when they get round to making one . . .

1 - Build it better pleeeeeaaaase. No more rattles would be a really good start.

2 - Bigger fuel tank. A range of 300 miles for the MCS would be helpful.

3 - How about door pockets that you can actually fit stuff in.

4 - A boot that holds more than 4 Sainsbury bags worth of stuff would be nice but not at the expense of the cuteness of the car.

5 - Better dashboard materials would be good. Too much hard plastics for my liking even if it does look stunning.

6 - 200+ bhp from the factory. Saves all those 'I love Hartge 'cos it's better than sex' + 'JCW kit is a rip off' arguments.

7 - MCS Chilli pack with 16"s without having to sell on your 17"'s OR preferably...

8 - Designing the car to run properly on 17"s so we dont have to suffer a harse ride & lose of finesse for spec'ing the chilli pack.

9 - More variety of versions. How about a speedster? Pick-up? Traveller? 5 door? etc.

10 - MINI only dealerships & service centres. A move away from arogant BMW dealers who treat you like a 2nd class citizen because you dont have the lastest M3/X5/7-series - (circle the one most appropriate)

Just my own thoughts but would be very interested to know what you guys would like to see on the 'new' new MINI?

My boot must be bigger than yours. Mine can hold about 8 (filled up)bags

Why didn't you just by a BMW 3 series?

I don't think the MINI should change much more. Its a unique car and I wouldn't want it look like all the other cars out there.

yeah, I'm wondering as well why did you buy it..

Personally I could tell the trunk was small, the dash looks like it looks, the 163 bhp (just right for me), and some of the other stuff you mentioned .. from going to the showroom and taking a look.. and reading about it in magazines..

And about the BMW people treating you like a 2nd class citizen? hmm well when I went to pay my deposit at the BMW part of the dealership the BMW people said "ah wow you bought an S, coool I'd love one myself" "what color did you pick etc etc" so I guess you chose a bad dealership

If I felt the same about the car as you do, I'd sell it and buy something else, or maybe you should learn to love it as it is

I would rather see an evolution of the current model with all the problems fixed, especially the rattles.

I agree with you about the door pockets. They're designed much more to look nice than to serve as pockets. I haven't found anything that fits in them yet and certainly not the gin bottle that Alec Issigonis (sp) was supposed to have sized the original Mini's door pockets to accommodate.

Aside from that, I think a little reshaping of the back to make it look less "fat" would be good. I think the MINI could do with looking a bit more like the original. The front is perfect, but the back could do with some work.

I like the bulldog look, I think it's kind of cute. Gives it a more agressive look. Which we need around here with all of the SUV's and trucks ruling the road.

I was waiting for the "*** off & buy something else" brigade to tell me that 'their' little MINI is perfect and that I should sell my MCS and stick to other cars.

Very predictable & very immature & not exactly the point of this thread.

I love the MCS for the way it looks & the way it drives but if BMW were to try and improve on it, then having lived with the car there a things that would make it less of a compromise.

I guess you missed the part where I said " . . .I love it (almost too much sometimes!) . . . "

Do you not think that I considered these things when I bought my MCS? I was making suggestions about what could theoretically be done to make a new version even better.

If BMW were going keep up with the pace of car design then yes, even the MINI2 will need to evolve.

Totally agree with you on that however the build quality has improved on our S compared to the August 2001 build cooper we once had.

I thought you could have the chilli pack without 17".

I have to agree with you on this as the cooper we had was shod with 16" alloys and the handling and ride was so so much better than our cooper S.

As for your idea on Mini only service centers. In Toronto, Mini Downtown the flagship store only sells and services Mini. You are not a second class customer. As for combination BMW/Mini dealers I have never felt second rate. The dealer in Oakville Ontario has two showrooms in one building. One for Mini and one for BMW.
