Angry Lots of Mini Scams

Be aware there are alot of Mini's on Ebay, Yahoo, Autotrader for sale that are scams. These people are listing cars that don't even belong to them. Pictures are actually pirated from other legitimate ads. They want money sent to escrow companies, bank accounts etc. The cars are usually priced well below market value. I have researched several of them and they are completely BS. I'm sure many people are getting caught by these theives. Minis are a hot commodity right now. If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, walks like a duck, it probably is a duck. BE AWARE!!!

For non ebay user like myself, how do you avoid a scam, and how can you tell a real offer of sale compared to a bogus one?

Thanks for the warning.

All of the ones I have seen are priced thousands less than market value. The phone numbers are wrong and the sellers always want to use some bogus escrow company just to snag some of your money. they are sophisticated, but stupid. If they can get you to send them a deposit they are happy. There is no way to track them down. They only escrow service I would trust is Escrow.com and they won't want to use that. Alot of this activity is from overseas. I am in the USA. There are several on autotrader.com right now. Every one of them has a bad phone number.

So hopefully a bit of thought and investigation from potential buyers will stop people getting caught out.

A case of 'Buyer Beware'.
