MINI2

This morning I asked my dealer if I would be able to have any choice in the last three digits of the registration and he told me this is not possible with Mini/BMW as the selection is automated. Only thought I'd ask as I know you can do this at Ford dealers.
Has anyone else been told this?
I'm not to bothered, just don't want to end up with a naff plate if I can help it.
Only about 28 days to go!!

If you want a decent plate, buy one from the DVLA

I don't know that much - waybe a car dealer can fill you in but -

about 15 years ago I imported a motorbike into the UK and went to get a new reg at the local DVLC office.

The number thay wanted to give me had the number 155 in it - at the time I lived at flat 1, 56 AChilles Road - so I said can I have 156 ???? NO !!! too much trouble for the guy behind the screen - come back in five minutes and wait for someone else to get 155 he said - I did and the number had channged to 157.... two people had got in front of me and despite me not leaving the room the guy gave it away and did not call me over ...

i was given a choice of 3 plates. didnt really bother me anyway cos i got my private plate.

yeah, BMW garage rang me up with 5 ***** plates. what's the point if they all mean nothing?!

They don't all mean nothing.

I too was phoned and asked if I accepted the random plate allocation, it had the last three characters as OAP (OLD AGE PENSIONER) no way ! I got OAH instead which as you say means nothing.

I used to see a car that had the last three as POO ! Means nothing ?? Yeah right.

I got the choice of about 20....all XXsomething, so of course, I chose XXL

I didn't get a choice but I bought a car not a number plate.

That's what I meant, I'm not to worried what's on the plate but I certainly don't want one that say's POO or OAP! It would be nice to have the choice, how ever limited, so that I can eliminate anything dodgy. If it was that bad, I would have to look at getting a private plate from the DVLA.
It seems like the guys fobbed me off, he's not the person I have been dealing with, so I'll call again tomorrow and speak to the person who took my order.

I have been seeing a fair few cars about with MDF or NAF as the last three.. hope it's not a sign else it's off to DVLA with a wad of notes!

Picked mine up on sat - BMW Mini with the new reg get given a selection of 3 to choose from, which must be chosen with a few hours to keep. After the few hours the numbers go back to the DVLA and 3 more are issued.

Thats how it works now.
