Bad Rally Etiquette

Sunday, March 2, Century MINI held a rally with 65+ cars. Along the way a driver got impatient and started passing many of us on curves and nearly hit me in the process. I don't think this kind of driving is acceptable during this kind of event. If he wants to drive extremely fast and reckless on these roads, he should do it on his own and not endanger fellow MINI owners.
I happened to have captured the event on video because I was taping the drive.

I've posted the video on my personal web site
http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/s/csuich/BadRallyDriving.mpg
This is about 4MB. (apparently I'm limited to 5000 hits/week or 100MB/day which equates to 25 downloads of this movie per day, if you get access denied, try again later)
An alternate hosting of the video...
http://homepage.mac.com/mrconana/.cv...g.mpg-link.mpg(you may have to copy URL and paste in Media player file open box) Thanks MiniShuttle.

I would suggest that when another rally is held that if you want to drive this way, stay home!

It's not my intention for this thread to turn into a flame war. I do want to make people aware of what happened and hopefully learn from it. My day was almost ruined for it and don't want to have it happen to anyone else.

Enough venting...
If you want to see the good part of the rally, here's the thread.

I agree that was rather obnoxious driving behavior, hope they wont be attending the Flow rally in May.

My camera was mounted on a tripod in the back seat area. Two legs were in each of the foot wells, the 3rd leg was in the pocket where the two seat belt latches are in the back seat. The camera is then at shoulder height looking straight out the front window. Be sure to put camera on manual focus. I was able to flip the viewfinder around so I could check view of the camera.
If I do it again, I would adjust my rear view mirror so the camera can also see out the back.

I was right behind MiniTiger, such driving is uncalled for, especially in a rally like this. What you can't see is the blind passing across the double yellow before that point.

A view of the rear view would have been a great addition.

Just watched the video, and that is probably the most irresponsible driving I have seen in a long time.

What did he/she think it was? A racetrack? It's a public road, for gosh sake! Grandma Moses in her Buick could have been coming the other way around one of those turns.

You could get at least a 25 thou feeler gauge between your car and his
Not very impressed with that kind of driving during a mini event, you may want to consider any legal issues that may arise if picked by pc plod.

Well, at least they shouldn't be invited back. That kind of driving is not approperate for a mini event.

I'm sure an unbroken double solid line in the middle of the road means the same as it does here in the UK e.g. do not cross. So his manovers, not only been dangerous are illegal too.
What an idiot

This reminds me unfortunately of the fool on the Chilterns run who was doing similar manovers. He was infront of me hassling other MINI2ers to get past, so I decided to drop back about 200m to avoid an consiquences of any accident he might have. He almost came a cropper with a Ferrari 355 coming the otherway

These people are simply just selfish

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

Maybe he was trying to get away from the music you were playing in the car?

Jokes aside, that was bloody stupid of him, particularly on a road so twisty. You were right to be peeved.
