Brief but good write-up on the Cooper and MCS in the Feb. issue on line. Here's my favorite paragraph comparing the S to other cars:
"On Route 1, the Cooper S was barely at three-tenths of capacity at a speed at which the Honda S2000 required all my attention to stay in the power band and where the TT Quattro had been just plain sloppy. The torque curve is so deep that shifting was not really required where expected, and when needed, proved to be very satisfying. Total control, but without the slightly rough edginess of a Subaru WRX. A thought kept rolling through my head that someone had taken a shrink-ray to a BMW M3 and remolded the shape to look like an old Mini. The Cooper S just feels like an M3, and that’s very good."
