Question Will my mini cooper get quicker?

I picked up my mini cooper 01/03/03 and am greatly impressed with the car so far.
I have done about 600 miles in the car and it is still pretty tight. After the initial run in will the car get quicker? At the moment it is not as quick as i was expecting. Or was i expecting too much?
thanks

yes it will. They tell you to keep the rpm to below 4500, but thats were the good stuff really starts. be patient & it will get a lot better.

put it this way - it's a good job this car corners so well

edit: you also need to learn to use the rev range & gears more. Keep the revs high & the car will love it (after run in of course)

adscan - I can vouch for that. I recently hit the 1500 mile mark and am starting to give the car that extra little push. Oh yessssss!!!!

16,000 miles on I say yes! My MINI has improved non-stop since I got it.

Its also important to get the hang of quick getaways! THeres a knack to this due to the cars heavy weight (relative to size) and the drive by wire. You definitely have to dial in more revs, earlier than in other cars.

I noticed quite an improvement after running in and it got better still at about 10,000 miles.

Mines now on 29,000 miles and it's still pretty much as quick as it was although I did put some fuel injector cleaner in recently for a bit of a spring clean

the MINI has gone...
