Thumbs up Happy..but even more tomorrow

Despite the few problems, it hasn't detracted from the driving experience of the car. So my answer is YES I still like my MINI Cooper. Should have all the problems left fixed tomorrow...it's booked in at my dealers and they have been pretty good so far!!

Thumbs down

I wish it would be that simple...

I like the MINI very much, but the whole experience of owning one from even before I had the car has been unnecessarily stressfull...

It certainly ruined the experience of owning my first new car and my opinion about BMW and their customer care...

I am delighted with my Cooper

It is the first new car I have bought, waited 2 months for it and don't regret anything about the purchase. Trouble free so far except for poor fuel consumption but it is only 555 miles old (23mpg around town) so it needs time to loosen up a bit before I say anything......and anyway, I am in the best place possible if something does go wrong. I get to work with them everyday
Saw the 17" wheels for the first time this week, and wish I had waited 6 weeks longer, but then again, am glad I went for the 16" as the past 5 weeks ownership have been great fun. It turns heads and stands out......my kind of car totally

RC- Try buying a new Alfa Romeo (I did) - I think you'll find it a much more stressful experience!

Cooper Chili - Silk Green & Black, Climate Contol, Heated Jets, ASC+T, Alarm

Arrived Nov 30 - Love it to bits

Its not that I don't like my I do... but I thought I would like it more I don't whether it is the faults that are putting me off or what. I spent the whole summer driving a Yaris for my IAM test and at the moment I think possibly I liked that more. I was just expected to be overwhelmed by it and I am not but sure its a very nice car overall. I think the difference is the Yaris you were never in any doubt that there would be a problem but now I just expect my car to go wrong.

This may seem irrational I can't really put into words but I wish I was more overwhelmed by it. I must also admit generally the Yaris Auto felt quicker than my Steptronic and could return 48mpg with ac on at 70 compared with only 31.3 running in my Cooper carefully.

I have owned 2 brand new Alfas. They were brilliant fun. Italian cars have something passionate about them. Their temprement is also typically Italian. The electrics a little weak, but never the mechanicals. They used to say that when you bought an Alfa you only had to pay for the mechanical parts, the bodywork was free! The engines were always an aural delight. The cars stylish. Any faults were promptly fixed. The performance of their cars was always their strength and pulling to the left was never an issue.

Anyway what Alfa do and MINI do is not the issue. I can only judge a car by the ones that I have driven. The MINIs that I have owned have consistently been built to the same quality, ie unacceptable.

If MINI put a better engine in the bay, tuned up the exhaust note, and fixed the steering pull, the latter most definately,I would happily praise all the other good points of the MINI. Until then I will continue to go around in circles.

Its the best car I've ever driven (let alone owned) by a really long margin.

Blimey, that "union" remark of mine has stuck in your mind hasn't it.....well if it makes up for my remarks I'm trying to help redress the situation.......take a look if you havn't already...

What can I say; 87% of Mini owners are happy with their car

Hopefully I will increase that a bit when I get mine

After four weeks and 3000 km (one week in service to sort out drown body controller / water leak) I am still amazed by the car. Pure fun!

I'm just sorting out, if I can afford driving 3000 km in one month - I have doubts
- will post a own thread/poll about fuel consumption.

Sorry LMB, it looks like you have forgotten to vote, and I suspect that it will not be entirely as you hoped when you do.

I did as well

Am I happy with my Mini?...I would have to say Yes. Whilst I have had my days when I wish I had never bought the thing, the majority of the time I love the car.

To me the Mini is a love/hate relationship. The design of the car is absolutely spot on. I have spent several weekends test-driving various rivals just to see how they compare to my Mini. But nothing has come close.

However, I hate it when I spot faults with the car no matter how minor. Especially as most of them are due to sloppy workmanship. But what can you do, it seems the majority of people are in the same boat. In fact I don't recon there is *one* Mini out there that has not had one fault or another. Finding a fault free Mini is like searching for the wholly grail

But BMW are lucky because the car has this hypnotic charm to it that makes you forget it all once you start driving.

LOVE IT!!!!! it's definitely a fun car and that's what i wanted.
did more than 1,000km this weekend to Ticino and all systems go! no left pull, etc. but definitely bumpy ride on certain not so smooth highways. glad i didnt opt for the SS+ suspension

Fault free MINI?

Mine has the following "faults":-

1) Rear wiper arc doesn't quite reach the top of the glass
2) Greasy smudge still appearing on osf door glass

So insignificant that I would class the vehicle as fault free. So they can build 'em right in Oxford.

By the way, I've started compiling a MINI faults database. This lists every MINI-owning MINI2 member that has posted details on the site, together with any faults they've mentioned and the build date and spec of the car. Over 100 cars listed so far. Hope to finish it this week and will then provide more details and see if the results can be published in some useful format.

PS. I have entered this project in the Anorak of the Year competition and am confident of 1st place.
