Just heard on BBC site that Mini UK have announced that UK Dearlerships will be recieveing no more new Mini's from today.

Apparently, Mini UK are concerned that the Mini is now becoming far too common on British roads and that production will be paused for upto 9 months to preseve what uniqueness remains.
During this time, a plan is to be drawn up where dealers will recieve cars in the future, based on surveys of percentage of Mini's on the road in a fixed radius. When questioned about the posibility of people buying from far afield and then bring their car back home, a Mini UK spokesman said, 'It would be foolish to attempt to control this risk, we will have to rely on the good nature of prospective Mini owners and hope they had the patients to wait until their local quota dropped below the threshold.'
