Offline | Wow, the whole garage smells like new car. Mmmm...new car. Yet another "I finally got my MINI" post. Like nobody here's ever seen an Indi Blue MCS before. But here are my pics anyway. Brad's MINI I just had someone install an X-Pel clear bra on it today. He did one hell of a job too! Very happy with that. No paint chips for this MINI. |

Offline | Soon after I picked up my MINI, the weather got cold and the new car smell went away for the winter. Now that the sun's back out and the weather's warming up making all the interior plastics outgas, the smell is back ![]() |

Offline | Hehe, yeah the Recaro's a great seat. I was happy that it ended up fitting in my MINI so nicely. Our youngest (the owner of the other seat with the Elmo shoulder pads) is coming due for a booster seat of her own. So we'll have some symmetry in the back with two Recaros! That'll look cool. |

Offline | It was something I negotiated during the sale. The dealership wanted to spray on a "permacoat" or some such. Totally useless. I asked for the clear bra as a substitute. They had a really good X-Pel installer come to my house and do the work. He does all their cars (and I can see why). X-Pel actually has two kits for the MINI. One for the bonnet and side mirrors, the other for the bumper and lower area. What's nice about X-Pel is their MINI kits have very few relief cuts. This means less seams and a more continuous and unnoticeable finished product on your car. The installer said that the retail price for both kits and installation would've come to around $450. The dealership has a wholesale agreement with him, however, so he doesn't get quite that on their cars. Anyway, it's well worth it. I've had one on our Audi S4. And after 53000 miles, the front is without hardly a scratch. I can no longer even think of having a nice car without putting a clear bra on it. At least around here with all the damn trucks dropping rocks on the freeway and stuff. |

Offline | Re: Re: Wow, the whole garage smells like new car. Mmmm...new car. See my response above to S2000&CooperS. The company is APEC. They are one of X-Pel's larger outfits here in So CA. You can email them at atlanticpacific@msn.com. I'm very happy with the job they did on my MCS (it ended up being far better than my S4's, which was done a long time ago by someone else). Don't go completely on price. There are differences in the various kits -- and in the people installing them! |
