The Up's & Down's of My MINI's (long)

Saturday, today was a day of many ups and downs.

First I was going to say good bye to my year old Silver and Black Cooper On the other hand I was picking up my New Chili Red Cooper S
Well I was up at 7.30 this morning, removed the last few personal things from Silver and drove down to the MINI dealership, I parked up next to a new CR/B S (could this be my new car )
I got out of Silver and walked into the dealership, there to be met by Mark (the salesman), we had a nice chat and then it was down to business. a flurry of signatures the exchange of paperwork and keys followed by a mad dash out to meet "Red" She is lovely.
A quick run through of the new car by Mark and then I’m off to run/break her in.
It's great, loads more power, and yes I’m been good and keeping the revs down.
I've deliberately put my sensible head on today, so no getting annoyed by the gti's sitting on my bumper or old farts doing 20mph in front of me, I’m just driving along nice and easy, enjoying everything about the car.

Well a couple of hours later and 80 miles on the clock, there comes a bong noise and a flashing light in the Speedo I can't believe it, not a fault on my new car.
No, there was no fault, in the space of 3 hrs and 80 miles I’ve picked up a nail in my rear tyre .
At first I thought "it must have been in there from when I picked RED up", but after I topped the air up I realised it was going down to quick to be there from new.
The trouble was, now the dealer workshop had closed, so it was a slow limp home in a very bad mood.

Got home stormed in doors and just looked out the window at RED, not a happy man.
Grabbed the phone and the phone book, and start to call all the big tyre firm's. "Do you have the equipment to repair run flat tyres".
As you can probably guess all I got was NO,NO,NO from just about everyone , now I was down to the Small Independent tyre shop's after a few of these, I hit pay dirt and only 5 miles away .
A quick Pump up of the rear tyre, and I was off. 15 min's later I was there, the wheel was off and the repair was done.
I must say even with the correct equipment, it's not the easiest job I’ve seen done, that is one strong side wall.

RED is now back to how she should be, I'm once again a happy man, I can only hope that this is the only problem I have. It's now back to putting some more miles on that clock

So if your in the Middlesex area, and you have a run flat puncture, I can vouch for a very good, open 7 days a week tyre shop. TERRYS TYRES , Harrow. and quite cheep as well.

Hope every one else who picked you a car today had it a little bit better than me

How big are your wheels, and how much was the tyre?

Nice S, BTW. I do like Chilli Red, same colour as mine

The wheels are the standard 17" s spokes with dunlop runflats (standard tyre). As for how much was a tyre? I don't know and I don't want to know for a long time.
They repaired the Puncture with a plug and patch. cost me a tenner
Top man Terry
