Speed bumps...?

Do any of you live in a neighborhood with speed bumps? The apartment complex I'm moving into next year has speedbumps seemingly every 10 feet. Ugh. Since the Mini is so low to the ground, how will it do? They're very short...as in they aren't giant humps that you can just roll over, they're short, abrupt, and somewhat tall speed bumps. I'm worried about getting an S with 17" wheels and having to drive over these every day!

Anybody else have to do this? How is it?

I have a few streets in the nieghbourhood with speed bumps or the politically correct name "traffic calming devices" I have yet to make contact with one. The Mini is able to clear. I will be able to make contact in the snow on the approuch so I have to use caution other than that no problems.

Ya, I've never had problems either, worse comes to worse you can always get a skid plate.

When I took a MCS for a test drive I was dreading Speed Bumps

Not because I thought it would ground but because there are millions of them on London and I go over at least 50 a day to and from work - I thoght I would need a spine replacement after 6 months if the MINI rode them badly.

To my surprise the MCS rode them BETTER than my wifes car ( Audi A2 ) and mine - VW Golf.

I couldn't beleive it! - and zero grounding

no problem here either, the cooper seems to handle bumps well. a note on the wheels, it doesn't matter whether you get the 17inch s-spokes or the 16inch standards - the diameter of the wheel is the same, the 17inch is just a lower profile tire. only thing to watch out for is lowering the suspension.

Some ' Might'y ' big speed HUMPS over here , no Prob's .

The only car's that I have noticed that have problem's are those with long ' Overhang's ' , such as big Merc's , Jag's , Volvo's etc.

Or the Young Boy's that think it is ' HIP ' to remove all the suspension from their Pug 106's , Nova's . Golf's Etc.

You will be fine.

I've been over a lot of these speed bumps and humps at various velocities and never scraped bottom.

btw. I never saw them called "humps" until I was in a neigborhood in Baltimore, Maryland last year. Had to snap a pic!

The MINI is designed to take on ramps that have an inclination of about 10 degrees.

No problems here either!

When I bought my Cooper the dealer warned me that taking speed bumps too fast could cause the engine cut out switch to trigger when the car eventually hit the ground. So far so good.

My school has 3 speed bumps, and the Mini can't make it over any of them. I have seen a pickup scrape over them though, they are really big.
